Overall, it's a pretty good school. I'm finishing up my last year here. Try and ignore the fresh sixth graders caught playing coolmath games.
Our two children had opportunities in high school and college that were possible because of the excellent foundation laid at Ruckel Middle School. The teachers and staff have "seen it all" and their experience and enthusiasm help them steer students toward success. Whether you're new to town or you've lived here all your life, your kids will find a good spot to grow at Ruckel.
I have two children who have had wonderful experiences at Ruckel Middle School. Their academic teachers have been excellent. The band and chorus programs are amazing! My 7th grade daughter is now certified in Windows, Excel, and Power Point! The teachers are passionate about teaching. The principal is passionate about the school.
To be honest, I think this school bans to much. I can understand some things like blankets, because you could trip on them and you could just wear a jacket anyways. But some things, like slime or fidget spinners, it just doesn't make sense. Fidget spinners are used to help students with ADHD, so they don't disturb other students. I of course understand that some students are playing around with them during class and distracting students with them, but honestly, I have on multiple occasions gotten just as distracted if not more from an eraser that fell off of a pencil.
The school otherwise from the banning is a fairly acceptable place, although my friends and i do joke that they will some day ban shoelaces because we trip over them, or chips because of the bag popping during lunch.
The slime banning was understandable, but i don't think punishments such as detention should be given to students. I got detention for giving bags of slime to some of my friends after i very specifically told them not to open them for their own good, and out them away until the end of they day when they were ready to go home. I always thought my first time getting detention would be for fighting another student, or cursing out a teacher, but to. The first detention i get in my life that goes on my record is for bringing glue mixed in with borax. To be honest i don't understand whats so bad. When i went to the office, they said basically every aspect of the glue wasn't okay. (glue, borax, food coloring, and scent) To start with the glue, there is literally at least one bottle of glue in every classroom that is someone was irresponsible enough, they could get high off of it or whatever people do with it. The borax is the most understandable, but still its just a basic laundry detergent and you could smell it in your shirts. The food coloring should be an issue at all, because i only used like one single drop and it wouldn't effect anyone. The scent they said was in issue, but literally all i used peppermint and vanilla extract, the same thing that you could find in cookies or cakes.

MY MOM F*****G SPOILS ME CUZ I BEG HER FOR S*IT. LIKE I GOT ZELDA BREATH OF THE WILD AND NEVER PLAYED IT. PS I HAD S*X WITH MR PAUL WHIDDON THEIR C*M TASTED SO GOOD.
